How to choose an app blocker
Start with the moment you want to change, then choose the tool that can support it.
Do you need a block, a pause, or a habit goal?
Scheduled blocks can protect a work session. A brief interruption can make an automatic app opening more noticeable. A habit-based rule asks you to complete something you chose before receiving app access. These approaches can overlap, so check the actual flow rather than the category name.
List the screens you really use
Check phone, tablet, computer, and browser support separately. “Desktop support” might mean a browser extension or a native app, and those cover different distractions. Do not assume support for one device means all your apps are covered.
Check permissions and recovery
Read why sensitive permissions are requested. Understand how to pause protection, handle an emergency, and recover if permission is revoked. Avoid testing your first rule on an app you need for work, communication, or authentication.
Try the offline path
Test an existing rule without internet. Keep purchase and account checks separate. If the product syncs between devices, check what happens when one device is offline.
Make the purchase decision last
Try a rule in the actual situation that bothers you. Then compare the paid features, local price, billing period, and cancellation terms. Read our product comparisons for differences in approach, with links to each developer’s own information.
